Chekkan is a Malayalam musical movie that features Vishnu Purushan in and as Chekkan with Athira, Abu Salim, Vinod Kovoor, Thesni Ali Khan, Nanjiyamma, Ali Arangadath, Ambili, Salam Kalpetta, Marar Mangalath and Afsal Thuvoor as the lead characters. The story, screenplay, and directed by Shafi Eppikkad. Produced by Mansoor Ali under the banner of One to One Media.

The movie tells the story of an artist from a socially marginalized community who struggles and neglects his artistic career and his rise from it. Vishnu Purushan, who is well known to the audience through films like Guppy and Chalakkudykkaran Changathy, will be the title character. Nanjiamma is the grandmother of Vishnu and she is famous through Ayyappanum Koshiyum has sung a beautiful 'Tharattu' song and played a strong role in the movie. Director Shafi earlier works in Lots of short films, musical albums, etc.

The main parts shoot entirely in the scenic beauty of Wayanad. The first poster was released through the FB pages of Vineeth Sreenivasan, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, and Pranav Mohanlal.

The film tells the story of a tribal singer was composed of about five songs. The music-oriented movie Chekan is composed and lyrics written by Nanjiyamma, Manikandan Perumpadappu, and OV Abdulla. The song in the movie which starts with 'Malarkodiye ..' was viewed by more than 4 million viewers on social media. The third song from the movie Chekan, which is making waves in the theaters, has also been released on 12^th June 2022. The song "Oru Kaattu Moolanu" is composed and sung by folk singer Manikandan Perumpadappu. The crew say that they are hoping that the social media support for the first song will be available for this song as well. The movie starts with Nanjiyamma's tharatu song and ends with a folk song. Even if the audience leaves theater, the folk songs will still be with the them.

Chekkan movie was released in theaters on June 10^th of 2022. After completing the censorship process and gaining a clean U certificate from the censor board. The shooting was completed in 2021 and delayed due to the Covid crisis. The film has been making great strides in over 30 theaters, along with big movies.
