National Mural Painting Camp 'Varamudra 2022' kicks off
Minister Veena George presided over the function. The Minister said that she expects a building for the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam to become a reality during the tenure of this Government. Minister Adv. GR Anil was the special guest. Prof. Pradosh Kumar Mishra was presented with the award instituted by the Culture Foundation of Vellinezhi, Palakkad for his outstanding service in the fields of art, culture, and environment. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,001 and a certificate.
Rani George, Principal Secretary of Department of Culture, Shaji N Karun, Chairman of Kerala Film Development Corporation, Mohammad Riyaz, Director of Department of Culture, Kerala Lalithakala Academy Chairman Murali Cheeroth, Painter BD Dattan, Vasthuvidya Gurukulam Chairman Dr. G Shankar, and Director TR Sadasivan Nair also spoke.
The camp is attended by more than 30 talents including 12 eminent artists from outside the state and Gurukulam artists. Every day from 5 pm, various events, seminars on various topics, discussions, and a documentary film screening are organized.
The seminar to be held today (Thursday) at 5.30 pm will be inaugurated by Malayalam Mission Director Murukan Kattakada. KU Krishnakumar will lead the seminar on the history and style of field writing and Prof. Pradosh Kumar Mishra will lead the seminar on the mural painting tradition of Odisha. There will also be field writing by Chettikulangara Jayakumar. The camp will end on the 15th March 2022.
