Prabhas as 'Bhairava' in 'Kalki 2898 AD'
Inspired by mythology, this futuristic sci-fi Kalki 2898 AD is a journey spanning the millennia from the epic events of the Mahabharata in 3101 BC to 2898 AD.
Vyjayanthi Movies' highly anticipated film Kalki 2898 AD made a historic debut at the prestigious Hall H of the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Kalki 2898 A.D. was welcomed by the excited audience with grand applause. This is the first time that an Indian film will be a part of Comic-Con, a proud moment for every Indian.
In the Nag Ashwin-directed film "Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas will appear as "Bhairava". The poster features Prabhas as Kalabhairavan amid a backdrop of old tales and a far-off futuristic civilization. The poster features the futuristic street of Kashi, a sacred location, as its backdrop.
The atmosphere in Hall H was filled with cheers and clapping with the arrival of Kalki 2898 AD. An unforgettable visual experience awaited the audience. Drummers and candle-lit ladies danced their welcome, ushering the audience into a world of cinematic wonder.
As actors Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, director Nag Ashwin, producer C Ashwani Dutt, Priyanka Dutt, and Swapna Dutt Chalasani took to the stage, the audience was in a frenzy of excitement.
When director Nag Ashwin was asked about assembling such a large star cast, his reply was, "What brought us all together was the love of storytelling style. The idea was in our minds before, and the story evolved later. I love science fiction and mythology, I grew up watching Mahabharata and Star Wars. I came to Kalki with the intention of making a film combining these two worlds."
Amitabh Bachchan, who participated in the discussion through a live Zoom call, also expressed his pride in being a part of the film. "When Nagy approached me for this film, I was drawn to his previous films. 'Project K' was an extraordinary and exciting experience, with incredible research behind it. I got to share a lot of fun moments with the film team during the shoot, and I want to thank everyone at Comic-Con for hosting us. I hope you like today's glimpse video and will love it even more when the film comes out next year." Amitabh Bachchan said.
Amitabh Bachchan added, "When Nagi informed me that we had been selected for Comic-Con, I didn't know the significance of it. It was my son who made me understand the solemnity of the occasion".
Kamal Haasan also shared his excitement while interacting with the audience, "I have also tried to do such films but in a smaller way. The vision of 'Kalki 2898 AD' is huge and I am happy to be a part of it. Earlier I used hockey masks to create the costume of the troopers, but in Kalki, it was done very stylishly and I loved it."
Vyjayanthi Movies founder and producer C Ashwani Dutt along with his daughters Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt Chalasani spoke about his journey from black and white films to science fiction through Kalki as part of the panel. "I started my career with NT Rama Rao and it took me 50 years of hard work to reach Amit ji, Kamal ji, and my friend Prabhas. This is a very proud moment for us."
The presence of 'Kalki 2898 AD' at the San Diego Comic-Con marks a historic moment for Indian cinema. It is hoped that this will lead to more global attention for Indian cinema in the future.

The movie, which was helmed by Nag Ashwin, underwent a particular marketing campaign. The makers are currently releasing the pre-look poster on the stars' birthdays after releasing the pre-production video titled "From Scratch". Disha Patani's look poster was revealed on her birthday, 14th June 2023 after the launches of those for Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, etc. On the poster, Disha is dressed as a bride.
