Padakkalam is a Malayalam fantasy comedy movie directed by debutant Manu Swaraj. The film Padakkalam features Suraj Venjaramoodu and Sharaf U Dheen playing the crucial characters alongside Sandeep Pradeep of Falimy fame, Saafboi of Vaazha fame, Arun Ajikumar of Little Hearts fame, YouTuber Arun Pradeep, Niranjana Anoop, and Pooja Mohanraj. Apart from them, many new faces are playing roles in this film. The movie Padakkalam is produced by Vijay Babu under the banner of Friday Film House in association with the 29 September Works of Vijay Subramaniam. Nithin C Babu and director Manu Swaraj jointly wrote the screenplay of Padakkalam.

Vinay Babu is the executive producer of Padakkalam. Anu Moothedath handles the cinematography, and the editing is done by Nidhin Raj Arol. The campus scenes are filmed at the renowned Kanjirappally Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, which is presented entirely in a campus setting. The fun fantasy genre is used exclusively in this film, which examines the interaction between teachers and students. By organizing roughly 4,000 artists, this movie is being filmed with a significant financial expenditure.

Director Manu Swaraj is a young filmmaker based in Bangalore, making multiple short films. In his eight years as a co-director, Manu has worked alongside Justin Mathew and Basil Joseph. He used to work with Basil in Kunjiramayanam and Minnal Murali.

Synopsis

This story takes place in a college setting where Jithin, an introverted student, is about to split from his lover. Meanwhile, he happens to see some things that lead him to assume that Ranjith, the professor at that college, is influencing Shaji, another professor, and that he knows something about black magic.

In Padakkalam, we witness Jithin and his group's quest to learn the truth about Ranjith and the events that transpired during that time.
