Suriyah to give Retro more vigor

Vaika Merryland Release has secured the distribution rights for Surya's film "Retro" in Kerala

Retro Movie is a gangster drama directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film Retro features Suriya, and Pooja Hegde will play the female lead. Among the many well-known actors in the movie are Malayalam audience favorites Joju George and Jayaram, along with Nassar, Prakash Raj, Karunakaran, Vidya Shankar, Tamizh, and numerous others. The movie Retro is produced by Jyotika and Suriya under the banner of 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films.

Rajsekar Karpoorasundarapandian and Karthikeyan Santhanam are co-producing the 44^th film by Suriya.

Karthik Subbaraj, who is making waves with every update, is behind Suriya's latest single, "The One," which was published on 12 April 2025. Vivek wrote the song's lyrics, and Sid Sriram and Santhosh Narayanan sang it. Mahalakshmi, Ananthu, and Victor provided the backing vocals. Santhosh Narayanan is the composer of the music for Retro.

The energetic dance track "Kanima" from Surya's "Retro" album is now available from 21 March 2025. Within minutes, the audience-excited tune reached the top of the YouTube trending list. The audience's expectations for Retro are rising with every new version of Karthik Subbaraj's Surya movie. Set against the backdrop of a wedding, this upbeat dance track was created by Santhosh Narayanan to lyrics by Vivek.

The movie industry has been eagerly awaiting the release of the Suriya 44 title teaser. The movie is called Retro. With the throwback title teaser, Karthik Subbaraj treated the audience and fans to a lavish feast on Christmas Day 2024. Karthik Subbaraj presents the audience with action-packed and romantic sequences in the trailer for the movie, which has the tagline Love, Laughter, War.

Retro movie hits the theaters on May 1, 2025. Vaika Merryland Release, headed by Senthil Subbaram, grandson of Malayalam's legendary producer P Subramaniam, has acquired the Kerala distribution rights to Surya's Karthik Subbaraj-directed film Retro. Merryland Studios, which has given Malayalam eighty-two films, paid a hefty sum to acquire Retro's Kerala distribution rights. On May 1, Retro will be released in theaters across the globe.

Synopsis

The majority of the movie takes place in the early 1990s, and our protagonist, Paarivel Kannan, often known as Paari, intends to leave behind the gangster work he had performed for his father in order to settle down.

But because his former life keeps getting in the way, his attempts to live a tranquil life with his sweetheart Rukmini, often known as Rukku, don't work out as well as he had hoped. Retro depicts Paari's attempts to resolve this issue and the eventual outcomes of that journey.
