It is not the first time that a movie in Indian cinema has been called Janaki. In Malayalam cinema, the name Janaki has been used for previous films. A few that spring to mind are the 2003 film Janaki Weds Sriram, the 2013 Telugu film Alias Janiki, the 2018 Malayalam film Janaki, the 2023 Malayalam film Janaki Jaane, and so on.

I don't understand why the Censor Board is unconcerned with Janaki v/s State of Kerala, which was supposed to be released the other day, even though none of these names have been used to identify Janaki.
Name a movie to stop the invasion of freedom of expression. Join Keralan filmmakers in their fight for cinematic freedom of expression. Release this Janaki with the same name. Always be true to the film and do it justice.
