Kochi: In the textbook, Negha Shahin is a trans woman. The eighth-grade Art Education Textbook's movie theater section features a description of Negha, who became the first female/transgender actor to win the State Film Award in Malayalam movie history. Negha's performance in Antharam, which was directed by photojournalist P. Abhijith, earned her the 2022 State Film Award. Anjali, a trans woman who must become a family woman, expressed her mental struggles and crises in Antharam.
At an event in Thiruvananthapuram, Nishagandhi, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, presented Negha with the State Film Award. It debuted at the prestigious Mumbai KASHISH Pride Film Festival, one of South Asia's top film festivals. Antharam was shown at film festivals such as IFFT, the Jaipur International Film Festival, and the Bangalore Queer Film Festival. Antharam, which was produced by Jojo John Joseph, Paul Kollanoor, Jomin V. Geo, Renuka Ayyappan, and A. Shobhila under the auspices of Group Five Entertainments, had cinematography by A Muhammad and editing by Amaljith.
S Negha was born in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvarur area and then moved to Chennai.
