The plot of the movie revolves around the life and dream worlds of Balu, a third-class student. Master Anvin Sreenu plays the young boy named Balu. Anumol plays Balu's mother Ganga and Senthil plays Balu's father Viswanathan. "Tha Thavalayude Tha" is a family movie that falls within the fantasy genre rather than being a story for kids.

The official title poster designed by Sanal PK has been launched on the social media pages of Sunny Wayne, Unni Mukundan, Aju Varghese, Anu Sithara, Badusha NM, Jeethu Joseph, Kannan Thamarakulam, Surabhi Lakshmi, Marina Michael, Adya Prasad, and Geethi Sangeetha on 28^th July 2021. The first look poster of the movie has been unveiled on 26^th November 2021 by the Mollywood lady superstar Manju Warrier, with Asif Ali, Siddique, Anthony Pepe, Rajeesha Vijayan, and director Jibu Jacob. The poster shows the 3^rd std - 1992 batch class photo of Kuttamath School. The second look poster of the movie 'Ta Thavalayude Ta' has been released on 10^th April 2022.

The major filming of the movie is completed in Kanhangad, Kannur, and other surrounding areas. The first teaser of the film Ta Thavalayude Ta is out on 9^th December 2022.

The music is composed by Nikhil Rajan Melayil with the lyrics by Beeyar Prasad and the sound design by Savitha Nambrath. The dance choreography is done by Sreejith P Daazzlers.
