Shaakuntalam Pan-Indian movie based on the love story of Shakuntala and Dushyanta from Mahabharata 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam' written and directed by Gunasekhar. Features Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Shaakuntalam as the lead with Dev Mohan, Madhubala, Dr. M Mohan Babu, Sachin Khedekar, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, Kabir Bedi, Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta. The movie Shaakuntalam is produced by Neelima Guna under the banner of Gunaa Teamworks. Icon star Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha also plays a pivotal role in the movie Shaakuntalam, another attraction in the star cast.

This film is being prepared with a big budget among female-oriented movies. CGI is used to showcase the big-budget film 'Shaakuntalam' set against the backdrop of Indian mythological stories in a beautiful and grand manner. The film is based on the great playwright Kalidasa's classical work 'Shakuntalam' of the same name. The film will be from the perspective of 'Shakuntala'. Actress Samantha plays the role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan, who is famous for Sufiyum Sujatayum plays Dushyanta. Reportedly, Aditi Balan will be seen as Anasuya and Mohan Babu as Durvasa Maharshi.

The music for the film Shaakuntalam is composed by Mani Sharma. The first song of the film 'Shaakuntalam' featuring Samantha as the titular character has been released on 18^th January 2023. The song that tells the story of Shakuntala is sung by Ramya Behera. Chaitanya Prasad has penned the lyrics for the song which is composed by Mani Sharma. The second song of Shaakuntalam, a film based on the love story of Shakuntala and Dushyantha has been released on 25^th January 2023. The third song of Shakunthalam, which starts with "Yelelo Yelelo" has been released on 2^nd February 2023.

Shaakuntalam movie was hit theaters worldwide on April 14^th of 2023 presented by Dil Raju. The film will also be released in 3D. The makers have decided to release this film in 3D to ensure a new and exciting experience for the viewers. The movie was earlier planned to release on November 4^th of 2022 and was postponed. Apart from Telugu, the film Shaakuntalam will be dubbed into Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi languages.
