Oodum Paavum is a Malayalam movie directed by Sreekanth S Nair after Wonder Boys. MR Gopakumar plays the powerful character of Appushaliyar of Shaliyar Street in 'Oodum Paavum'. Along with Gopakumar, Kailash, Biju Kuttan, Dr. Shaju, Indrajith Sunil, Mannar Ayub, Santhosh Nataraj, Sethu Lakshmi, Avantika, Suryakurup, Aditya Joy, Adarsh, Noel Binu, Moni Navaikulam, Nagaroor Sha, Pradeep Kadakkal and Rahul are also seen in lead roles. The movie Oodum Paavum is produced under the banner of Chandrashree Creations. The film's screenplay and dialogues are written by the director himself from the story of Aji Chandrasekhar. Along with MR Gopakumar, Malayalam stars and newcomers play lead roles.

The film's executive producer is Anil Vennicode (Varkala) and the project designer is Ramesh Thambi. The cinematographer of the movie is Haris Abdulla. The associate director is Shanthi Prasad and Vinto Vismaya and the assistant director is Hari Kottayam.

Balaramapuram is the center of handloom weaving in Kerala, situated in the southern part of Thiruvananthapuram district, this center is world famous. Balaramapuram handlooms and Balaramapuram Dhotis are widely accepted among the people. The new film is in the works set against the backdrop of Balaramapuram Handloom Weaving Centre.

It is a place not many have visited—this weaving center. In the film Oodum Paavum, their rivalry and lives are perfectly realistically portrayed. The primary focus of this film's presentation is Appu Salia's persona. Salia is a collective term used in the handloom industry. The younger generation is not really interested in weaving, and Appusalia is an elderly weaver. The staples of this profession are low pay and a large labor force. In many cases, individuals are unable to even wear the clothing they sew for themselves. Like Appusali, there are a lot of people who operate with integrity. However, some people possess intellectual knowledge and use their intelligence to earn fame and fortune while posing as laborers. Sahadeva Mudhamalai is one such individual. In this film, the narrative advances through Appusaliya's later years, during which she becomes entangled in Sahadeva's boss's orbit.

With all the complexities of the lives of the weavers, the movie promises to be pure entertainment. In Appusalia, MR Gopakumar portrays a formidable persona, whereas Chempil Ashoka portrays the role of Sahadeva, the boss. Chembil Ashokan is the best actor in recent times.

Returning with a formidable character is MR Gopakumar, who made a name for himself in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Vidheyan. Following Sreekanth S' 'Wonder Boys' Gopakumar appears in 'Oodum Paavum' as the formidable Appushaliyar of Shaliar Street. In his acting career, Gopakumar claims that Appushaliyar is the most powerful character.

The pooja of the movie Oodum Paavum, in which MR Gopakumar, who played the lead role was held at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on 3 February 2024. Prominent expatriate businessman and Romana Water Company MD P Pradeepkumar lit the Bhadradeepam at the function. MR Gopakumar, Kollam Thulasi and Darshana Unni. Director Ananthapuri, Ajay Thundathil, Harris Abdullah, Lal Kannan, and Joshua Ronald participated. The shooting of the film Oodum Paavum will begin in mid-February 2024 in Balaramapuram, Vellayani, Attingal, and Akathumuri.

The music for the film 'Oodum Paavum' is composed by GK Harish Mani from the lyrics penned by Poovachal Khader and sung by Saritha Rajeev.
