Kochi: The central government is once more charged with mistreating the Lakshadweep people. Some are complaining that the 'Mahal' language, which is taught to kids at Minicoy Island schools, is being eliminated. In the name of curriculum reform, the locals protest that the language is being avoided. A nation's culture and legacy are embodied in its language. Silencing a population is the government's action. Students are currently losing the language they have been learning for years. The goal of the central government is to wipe out a nation and its citizens. Lakshadweep inhabitants are protesting loudly against the government's decision to outlaw the language. The island of Minicoy is situated at Lakshadweep's southernmost point. They are entirely distinct from other islands in terms of language and attire. Since I was a young child, I have been studying and growing up in Minicoy. In order to communicate with them in their language, I first got ready to study Mahal. From class one to class four, Mahal was taught as a subject in the school. Books in the Mahal language were once written by those natives. The books were printed in the same press, which was shut down first when the BJP government took office. I used to occasionally visit the press to observe everything, citing a variety of reasons, but I was never able to enter the press at all. In addition, I found learning the Mahal language to be difficult, so I gave up on that endeavor as well. At the time, this press was close to the government quarters where I currently reside. However, my father was a Mahal Bhasha writer and speaker. I realized something else when I said this: Mahal Bhasha has a script. Every island, with the exception of Minicoy Island, speaks Jasari, an unscripted language. This is the only Mahal Bhasha we have, and we Lakshadweepians are pleased to have a written language. You may be asking why I am now discussing Lakshadweep languages. Yes, there is a significant cause. Today, the Lakshadweep administration is attempting to eradicate Mahal Bhasha, and their latest directive is to permanently ban Mahal Bhasha instruction in Minicoy schools. Does the government have the right to stop the people of Minicoy Island from preserving their language for future generations? Who has the authority to eradicate a nation's and a community's native tongue? What does the Lakshadweep government know about the Indian Constitution's fundamental rights for citizens?

What is the goal of the BJP government? You shut down that nation's press first, and now you're obliterating its language.
