'Athiradi' instead of 'Adi'

Director Arun is also a scriptwriter for Basil Joseph's Minnal Murali, and Athiradi marks his directorial debut. Athiradi is co-produced by director and cinematographer Sameer Thahir and Tovino Thomas. The director of music is Vishnu Vijay, and the lyrics are by Suhail Koya. In addition to Minnal Murali, Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, Sameer Thahir, and Arun Anirudhan have collaborated on Athiradi. Suku Damodar is the chief associate director.
The title teaser for Athiradi was unveiled on 18 October 2025, and the title 'Athiradi' is designed by Sarcasanam. The title teaser, which begins with the introduction of Vineeth Sreenivasan's character in Athiradi, features Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas in mass getups. The teaser's line, "If one is a forest fire, the other is a storm," suggests that Athiradi is getting ready to be a big-budget show that will rock theaters. There is hope that the "Athiradi" team is getting ready to deliver an amazing theatrical experience because the dialogue says what will happen next is not just a fire but also an Athiradi. It is also evident from the teaser that the three are portraying characters who are complete contrasts in terms of appearance and personality. The title announcement teasers from popular South Indian movies are similar to the teaser for Athiradi. Apart from Malayalam, teasers for Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada have also been made public.
The message that accompanied the film's casting call was, "We need mass boys who can break the mass bunk." A few weeks ago, Basil announced the movie and unveiled his production company's logo, which included additional details about the movie. The fact that Vineeth Sreenivasan, Tovino Thomas, and Basil Joseph are collaborating on a movie for the first time makes it special as well.
Athiradi movie was released in theaters by Festival Cinemas on May 14, 2026. Athiradi filming started in October 2025. The biggest entertainment fest of the season, Athiradi, is streaming only on SonyLIV from 19 June 2026.
