Synopsis

Seetha, a Malayali girl, travels to Visva-Bharati University in Calcutta to study "Baul Music and Life." There, Seetha falls in love with Sam, a freelance photographer who is a friend of her professor. To learn the similarities between Baul life and tribal life, Seetha goes to a tribal area in Kerala with Sam. In a single-teacher school there, she unintentionally has to assume the role of a teacher. As part of his work, Sam visits the Mahananda woods in Bengal, but he never comes back. (ads) She stays in the forest because of its wildness, allure, and her dedication to the tribal community. Years later, after receiving a PhD from Visva-Bharati University, Chant, a tribal girl who studied under Seeta's guidance, returns to the forest. Chant informs Seeta that she has no choice but to leave the forest and go to the outside world, realizing that he must use the knowledge she has gained for the sustainable development of his community. Seeta leaves the woodland to look for Sam after realizing her job is accomplished. Realizing that life is an endless pursuit of achievement, Seeta achieves the stage of self-discovery.
