Thuramukham Malayalam action-packed period movie starring Nivin Pauly and directed by Rajeev Rair. Apart from Nivin Pauly, the film also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Sudev Nair, Manikandan Achari, Poornima Indrajith, Darshana Rajendran, and Arjun Ashokan. The movie Thuramukham is produced by Sukumar Thekkepattu under the banner of Thekkepattu Films. The movie screenplay was written by Gopan Chithambaran, based on the play "Thuramukham" by KM Chidambaran.

Thuramukham is the story of the survival of a family and a village going through these turbulent times. The story of two generations, torn between good and evil, between tragedy and heroic resistance, between hope and despair.

Earlier, Rajeev Ravi's Kochi - based 'Kammatti Paadam' and 'Annayum Rasoolum' had garnered a lot of attention at the box office and among critics.

The story begins in the 1920s when the new Kochi port was being built. Many people from all over the country flock to the offices of labor contractors in search of work. It's a time when workers fight each other for metal tokens thrown away by contractors and shingidikal, and for a job that will get them an early start.

The port of Cochin, which later grew into a story dating back to the 1940s and 50s, became a breeding ground for a mafia consisting of contractors, capitalists, and their affiliated union leaders. It is a time when workers have to fight for their right to work and live with dignity. The port is the story of the survival of a family and a village going through these turbulent times. The official trailer of the movie Thuramukham has been released on 22^nd May 2022, which has created a lot of anticipation for the audience.

Thuramukham movie was released on March 10^th of 2023 by Queen Mary International Release. The movie was finally planned to release on 3^rd June 2022 and postponed for another week due to legal issues that arose unexpectedly. The movie was planned to release on January 20^th of 2022. The movie was planned for release on May 13^th of 2021 as an EID release and was postponed due to lockdown. The Malayalam film Thuramukham is streaming from 28^th April 2023 on Sony Liv.

Synopsis

The main theme of the film is the division of labor system that existed in Kochi till 1962 and the struggle of the workers to end it. Mymood had to leave his family because he dared to criticize the system. He also had to endure great suffering for his wife and children. His second son Hamza tried to make a living through the Chappa system, while his older son Moidu became this brash goon who worked for the dock masters.
Thuramukham demonstrates the system's timely progress as well as how it was ultimately brought to a stop after years of tenacious battle and numerous sacrifices.
