A movie is being readied for release under court receivership for the first time in Malayalam cinema history. Roshan Mathew and Nimisha Sajayan play the main parts in the suspenseful thriller Chera. Following a financial dispute between co-producer Niroup Gupta under the brand of NNG Films and producer MC Arun under the banner of Line of Colors, the court has advanced to the point of designating a receiver in the case. The receiver will now be in charge of any further issues pertaining to the movie Chera.

Judge Resmi B Chittoor of the Ernakulam Additional Commercial Court has designated advocate Rashmi Gopalakrishnan as Chera Cinema's receiver. Advocates Rain K Ravi and Jeemon P Abraham represented the plaintiffs, NNG Films and Niroup Gupta, in this lawsuit.
