The mural painting has great importance in the tourism sector; Minister Adv. PA Mohammed Riyas
The concluding session was inaugurated by Minister Adv. PA Mohammed Riyas. Minister said that he is very happy that murals painting has gained popularity now. The Minister pointed out that murals are of great importance in the field of tourism as an art form that evokes the unique artistic heritage of Kerala. He also said that the installation of murals depicting the history of Kerala in major tourist destinations would be considered. The Minister said that he would also consider organizing mural art camps for foreigners visiting Kerala as part of tourism.
The Minister presented the first award to Gopi Chevayur in memory of KP Indunath, an artist and teacher at the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam. The award consists of a sculpture, a certificate, and a cash prize.
Minister Antony Raju presided over the function. The Minister appreciated the services rendered by the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam for the restoration of colorful murals through ancient and intricate paintings.
Certificates and gifts were distributed to the camp participants and Gurukulam teachers at the function. Dr. G Shankar chairman of Aranmula Vasthuvidya Gurukulam, Kochi Muziris Biennale Foundation president Bose Krishnamachari, painting artists Nemom Pushparaj and Karakkamandapam Vijayakumar, Prof. V Karthikeyan Nair former director of Kerala Bhasha Institute, Vasthuvidya Gurukulam Vice Chairman R Ajayakumar, and Director TR Sadasivan Nair spoke on the occasion.
