The renowned Malayalam poet Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon was born on May 11. Born in Kaloor, Ernakulam district, in 1911, he rose to fame in Malayalam. The poet remains the Venus star in the literary cosmos, having contributed numerous masterpieces to Malayalam, including Kudiyozhikkal, Mambazham, Sahyante Makan, Oonjaalil, Kanneerpadam, and Onappattukar. Even though there are a lot of new poems being published in Malayalam right now, audiences are still interested in and studying Vyloppilli's poetry.
A movie adaptation of the famous poem 'Krishnashtami' from Vyloppilli's book "Kadalkakkakal," published in 1958, is now underway. Dr. Abhilash Babu is working on a contemporary cinematic adaptation of the poem Krishnashtami: The book of dry leaves. Babu is the director of independent experimental films such as Aalokam: Ranges of Vision and Maayunnu, Maarivarayunnu, Nisvaasangalil... (Dust Art Redrawn in Respiration). The incarceration of a group of individuals who wandered the city, their quest for freedom and happiness there, and the tragedy that ultimately befalls them are the film's central themes.
The movie is a masterwork of independent and experimental filmmaking. Five of the film's nine schedules, which adhere to the production methods, have been finished. Dr. Abhilash Babu, the film's director, stated that he intends to release the movie by August.
The film is based on a poem by Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon, a well-known poet in Malayalam literature. The title poster for Dr. Abhilash Babu's scripted and directed movie Krishnashtami Book of Dry Leaves, which stars Jeo Baby in the lead role, was made public on 9 March 2025. This movie is a contemporary cinematic interpretation of the poem "Krishnashtami" by Vyloppilli. Following the release of the independent experimental films "Aalokam" and "Maayunnu, Maarivarayunnu, Nisvaasangalil...," the first look poster for Dr. Abhilash Babu's film Krishnashtami: Book of Dry Leaves has been made public.
In addition to Jeo Baby, the movie features up-and-coming actors chosen through tryouts. Film societies and the media and literature departments of universities and colleges around the world are showing Abhilash Babu's debut film, Aalokam: Rangs of Vision (2023), which features five dramatic monologues by the renowned British poet Robert Browning as a film within a film. 'Maayunnu, Maarivarayunnu, Nisvaasangalil...' (Dust Art Redrawn in Respiration), a 2024 mockumentary, made its debut at the 29th IFFK.
