An interim order safeguarding Chiranjeevi's reputation and publicity rights is granted by a Hyderabad court
A four-decade film legend and recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, Chiranjeevi has sought legal protection against the abuse of his persona in products, internet platforms, and artificial intelligence content. The court noted that the acts, which included the unapproved use of his name, images, and memes, were harmful to his reputation and financial situation, acknowledging him as one of India's greatest movie stars. Additionally, it stated that his reputation and interests were seriously and irrevocably threatened by the exploitation of digital and artificial intelligence media.
The court has prohibited the direct or indirect use of Konidela Chiranjeevi's name, stage names ("Mega Star," "Chiru," "Annaiah"), voice, image, or any other distinguishing personality traits for private or business objectives in any kind of media. On October 27, 2025, the case will be heard by the court again. The court also issued a warning that severe civil and criminal penalties would follow any violation, defamation, or unapproved use of this order. It has explicitly cautioned media outlets, television networks, and online platforms against abusing his identity for attention-seeking or profit-driven purposes.
Chiranjeevi met with Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on October 11, 2025, and gave him a copy of the order in person. In order to discourage similar infractions, they talked about the start of criminal processes and the reinforcement of penal laws. This action demonstrates Chiranjeevi's dedication to defending his right to privacy and his individuality. Advocate Shri S. Nagesh Reddy and his legal team were instrumental in obtaining this crucial legal protection, and Chiranjeevi conveyed his sincere gratitude to them.
