The title of the Poovan movie was announced on 1^st May 2022 and the switch-on was on 5^th May 2022. The filming started in the Taliparamba and Payyanur areas of the Kannur district. Vicar of Pariyaram St. Anthony's Church Father Joseph Thundikkarot and Mrs. Raji KV performed the switch-on and the first clap was given by Veena.
